Charles McClure

U.S. Veteran

Passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center - Cooper in Saginaw. Age 93 years. Charlie was born December 14, 1918 in St. Charles to Thomas and Lucinda (Spencer) McClure. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Europe. Charlie was discharged as a Staff Sergeant and received a Purple Heart. On May 18, 1942 he married Norma Gutzmer and had recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Charlie was a member of the Saginaw DAV and St. Charles VFW Post 5695. He retired from the Saginaw County Road Commission in 1983. They wintered in Lakeland, Florida and summered at Wixom Lake. Charlie loved blue grass music and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Norma; daughter, Connie (Ron) Judd of St. Charles; son Charles (Illenna) McClure of Gladwin; grandchildren,  Michael (Rebecca) Judd, Brian (Nikki) Judd, Ronda (Kile) Henderson, Corrinne (Ken) Mentell and Cyle McClure; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded by 11 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 at Kendall Funeral Home, St. Charles. Pastor Ben Garcia will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Memorials may be made to the Hartley Outdoor Education Center or DAV.
